Who Are We?

The Association to Defend Freedom & Human Rights in Iran- Australia (ADFHRIA ) is a community-based not-for-profit organisation established to promote, assist, and support Iranian refugees and migrants especially women and children in their transition and integration into Australian society.

The organisation is independent and is in no way affiliated with any political party or movement. It is established as an incorporated association and operates as a Not-for-Profit organisation.

What We Do

What we do is encapsulated by the acronym ‘HOPE’. We provide:

Helping asylum seekers, refugees and immigrants for the promotion and protection of their human rights (as defined in the UN Charter and in relation to secondary rights now accepted as norms) gender-equity, education, employment, and physical and financial security) and to assist their transition into Australian society. This applies especially to those who are in more extreme need. Assistance may include:

      • Resettlement
      • Economic & Employment (training and placement)
      • Physical & Financial security
      • Education
      • Gender-equity & women’s rights
      • Cultural understanding

Offering assistance through in-house expertise/experience as well as in collaboration with other experts, agencies and NGO/ government organisations in taking effective steps to support their rights.

Providing the asylum seekers, refugees and immigrants with the tools and access to obtain a better understanding of their rights as asylum seekers and refugees:

      • Building capacity

      • Government services and entitlements

Engaging with and assisting asylum seekers, refugees, and immigrants through engagement with cultural and educational programs to gain control over their lives in Australia and to settle into their new homeland in the most efficacious way possible.

To create the best possible situation and life for them as soon as possible, so they may contribute productively and effectively to multi-cultural Australia; its society, development, and economy.
